HOW YOU CAN HELP

Your Voice Matters. Your Actions Count.

At this moment in history, defending our democracy, our rights, and our future will require more than quiet support—it will take courage and bold action. Speaking up, showing up, and stepping out of your comfort zone might feel daunting—but courage is contagious. When one person takes a stand, it inspires others to do the same. And that ripple effect can spark real change.

The alternative—silence, apathy, or inaction—is not an option. We the people are the only ones who can save what we care about.

How You Can Help

Democracy thrives when people get involved. At the Rochester Area Democratic Club (RADC), we believe that real change starts at the local level—and that starts with you.

There are many ways to support our mission, no matter your experience, schedule, or background. Whether you want to knock doors, make phone calls, or simply stay informed, your time and voice make a difference.

How To Become A Precinct Delegate

Precinct delegates are the grassroots backbone of the Democratic Party, connecting neighbors to candidates, turning out the vote, and building the local power that wins elections up and down the ballot.

Becoming a precinct delegate in 2026 is one of the most direct ways you can shape elections, strengthen your community, and make sure Democratic values are represented where it matters most: right where you live. There has never been a more important time to step up.

Step 1 — Get the Form

The Precinct Delegate Affidavit of Identity is available from the Michigan Secretary of State at Michigan.gov/elections. You can download and print it, or pick one up in person at the clerk’s office. Michigan Secretary of State

Step 2 — Fill Out the Three Sections

Section 1 — Your Info: Enter your first, middle, and last name, year of birth, residential address, and optionally a mailing address, phone number, and email. If your name has formally changed in the last 10 years for any reason other than marriage or divorce, you must note your former name. Michigan Secretary of State

Section 2 — Office Details: Write “Precinct Delegate” as the office name. Fill in your jurisdiction (the city you live in — Rochester or Rochester Hills) and your precinct number — this is required. List your political party, the primary election date (August 4, 2026), and exactly how you want your name to appear on the ballot using upper and lowercase letters. No nicknames or titles like “Dr.” are allowed. Michigan Secretary of State

Section 3 — Certification: Check the box certifying you are a U.S. citizen and meet the requirements for the office. Then sign and date in front of a notary and have the notary complete the notarization section. Michigan Secretary of State

Tip on notarization: Clerks can notarize the form for you when you submit it, so you don’t need to find a notary beforehand — just bring your completed (but unsigned) form and sign it in front of the clerk.

Step 3 — Find Your Precinct Number

You’ll need this for Section 2. You can look it up at the Michigan Voter Information Center at Michigan.gov/vote, or call your clerk’s office.

Step 4 — Submit to the Oakland County Clerk

Oakland County Clerk — Elections Division  248-858-0563 You can also confirm the address and drop-off options at elections.oaklandcountymi.gov

Deadline: May 5th at 4:00 p.m.

For questions specific to each city:

Rochester Hills — City Clerk’s Office, 1000 Rochester Hills Dr., phone: 248-656-4630, hours Monday–Friday 8am–5pm (they can help you find your precinct number) Rochester Hills

Rochester — Contact the Clerk’s Office at elections@rochestermi.org or by phone at (248) 733-3700 City of Rochest
